Sonarpur Mahavidyalaya

Sonarpur Mahavidyalaya, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal has been established in the year 1985 and is a co-educational college which has received a due accreditation from NAAC Bangalore. The college was established after a long democratic mass movement which was led by liberal democratic and education loving people. As a result of which a committee was formed and a plot of land was allocated for the establishment of the college. The college initially started off with six departments offering a general course to the students. The college was officially accepted by the UGC in the year 1994 in pursuance of National Policy on Education. Since its inception the motive of the college has been to adapt itself new way of thinking and cater the needs of the students from urban and sub-urban backgrounds. The college also has specific motives such as enrichment of collegiate education by providing learners updated knowledge in the field of science and education. College also tries to develop a new method of teaching so that the students can cope up with the rapidly changing academic scenario. The college further aims at maintaining a healthy and congenial environment for all round development of mind and body of our students.
