St. Dominic's College

St. Dominic?s College, situated in a pristine location of Shillong is an exclusive private, residential cum day co-educational college. Making a humble beginning in 1995, SDC has blossomed and matured into one of the premiere co-educational colleges in Shillong. The college began its journey conducting classes for class XI (Science, Arts and Commerce). Later in the year 1997, Three Year Degree classes were started for both Honours as well as Pass courses in English, History, Political Science, Education, Sociology and Economics. In addition to all these, Philosophy was taught as a pass subject. SDC is a futuristic institution that holds great learning possibilities and scope for aspirants. The infrastructure comprising of the main college building, classrooms, Library, Computer and Science Laboratories, Auditorium, Playgrounds, extensive furniture, transport and Canteen facilities provides a conducive and creative academic and social environment. The college has a wide spectrum of cultural, and sports programmes designed to bring the best in students. Faculty members who have excellent academic credentials in their respective line of specialization and years of teaching experience impart quality education to students. Students are drawn from all over India and also from the neighbouring countries with an average annual enrollment of approximately 800 students. The college has no endowments or trust funds and neither does it receive grants from the Government. It is the earnest endeavour of the college to enable its pupils to become responsible and conscientious citizens who in their pursuit of excellence will also uphold moral values and enrich life of others. We therefore focus on refining the individual traits and strengths of each student with a view to making him or her not only a contributing member of the society but also a leader of tomorrow.
