Govt College

This college came into existence as a private institution with the nomenclature of Degree College, Mahendergarh by the untiring efforts of the Kanod Shiksha Samiti, Mahendergarh in 1966. It is situated in a small town named Mahendergarh which is named after the King Mahendra of the then Patiala State in 1862. The college was taken over by the State Govt. on 14.7.1971. Since then it has been progressing and catering to the needs of students of rural background of south Haryana. Spread over an area of about 25 acres, the college is located in a peaceful surrounding outside the town. The well maintained lawns and lush green trees and plants add beauty to the campus. The college has developed and maintained a large infrastructure for the constantly increasing number of students. Besides having developed playgrounds for handball, badminton, kabaddi, basketball and kho-kho, the college has separate wings for Arts, Science and Commerce faculties. There are 14 class-rooms, one spacious hall, six well-equipped laboratories, two computer labs, one language lab, one girls common room, one staff room, one administrative block attached to the Principal's office, one well-replenished library, one spacious reading room and one block of canteen in the college. The college offers Undergraduate courses and programmes in the faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce along with Post-graduation in English. Besides, the college is running a Distance Education Study Centre of M.D. University, Rohtak offering various courses at U.G. and P.G. levels to those students who are unable to seek regular admission. This study centre is a boon especially for servicemen and working women because the classes are held on Sundays and other gazetted holidays.
