PIPLI, a small N.A.C, famous for its appliqu? is located by the side of Bhubaneswar-Puri main road, it maintains nearly equidistance from the seat of Lord Jagannath (Puri) and that of Lord Lingaraj, Bhubaneswar In one golden afternoon in the year 1978 some musketeers of the locality-Sri Dibakar Satapathy, Sri Bikram Singh, Sri Govind Chandra Baitharu, Dr. Sadasiv Nanda, Sri Debabrat Das and Sri Prafulla Jena felt the urge of higher education and visualized a dream to establish a college at Pipli with sustained efforts, selfless dedication and unstinted co-operation from the local people. The dream became a reality on 16th Sept. 1978, the college came into existence as 'Kanakdurga Mahavidyalaya" in the premises of Jawahar Vidyapitha, with an humble strength of 45 students. In its initial years, the college rose to eminence under the able stewardship of Prof. Sridhar Senapati as the founder principal. The locals came forward to contribute generously to shape the college in its infancy. The name of a few who shall be long remembered for their valued contribution and active role are Choudhury Natabar Sahoo & Sri Purna Ch. Mishra. They too acted as the president and the secretary of the 1st G. B. The college was renamed "Pipli College" and functioned at Jawahar Vidyapitha till 1981. The govt. of Orissa was pleased to accord concurrence for I.A class in the year 1981 for the session 1980-81. Affiliation for I.A. class was granted by Utkal University in the same year. Keeping in view the mounting student strength, the authorities shifted the college to its own premises in 1981. It helped the college to advance a step forward and the University authorities allowed the college to conduct its own examination. After the introduction of 10+2 pattern in the state, Higher Secondary Courses were opened in Arts in the academic session 1983-84 and the college was affiliated to the C.H.S.E, Orissa. Subsequently the scope of learning was expanded to +2 Commerce in 1985 and +2 Science in 1990. In 1992 the strength of +2 Arts was increased to 384 Permanent Govt. concurrence was accorded to +2 Arts, Commerce and Science in 2002. The horizon of higher learning was further expanded as the Govt. of Orissa was pleased to accord concurrence for the opening of +3 class in humanities in the year 1986. Permanent concurrence was accorded for +3 Arts & Science in the academic session 2002-03. Honours courses in Oriya, History & Pol. Science were introduced during the academic session 1992-93 and Sanskrit Honours in 2002. In Science Stream Chemistry Honours was introduced during the academic session 2003. The college came into U.G.C fold in 1990. The U.G.C has been providing adequate financial assistance for promotion of academic activities as well as infrastructure! development The present main building the hostel building & the college library were possible for the substantial assistance from the U.G.C. The college library has a total stock .of 10,000 books for under graduate and higher secondary classes. Reading room facility for the teachers, students and circulation facility for the teachers and students are available. The college fondly remembers Late Sridhar Senapati, Late Chakradhar Pradhan and Late Sachidananda Patayat for their dedication in shaping this temple of learning at Pipli.
