Dayanand Women's Training College

The prestigious Dayanand Shiksha Sansthan which has been dedicated to the cause of Education in India, started the Dayanand Womens Training College in 1961 in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. It is an institution dedicated towards providing teachers Training to young women aspirants. In it?s initial years the college was located in the premise of 29.E. C. Road, which today is the premise of the Virendra Swaroop Chatrawas for girls. In the year 1964 ,the college was shifted to 6,Curzon Road, which is now its permanent campus. Shrimati Dhara Rani the wife of ( Late) Dr. Virendra Swaroop provided patronage to the college which helped the institution in it?s aims of rendering training to young women in order to help them fulfil the growing demands of schools today and to become efficient teachers. Smt. S.R. Trivedi, the founder Principal of the college through her meritorious service helped the college to flourish .She retired from the post in 1975 and Miss B .Verma took up the charge .Under her guidance the college reached her new heights with the introduction of M.Ed. and M.A. Education courses from the session 1996-97.The college progressed not only academically but also aesthetically, culturally and morally. Dr. L. Rawat took over the charge in 1998 and made commendable improvement in the college by providing a rich library and advancement in the area of the Information Technology and other facilities. Dr. D.K. Singh ,an alumni of the college took over the charge in 2004 and made her contributions to the college. At present, Dr. Arti Dixit is working as a Principal of the college since 2007. The college has helped to foster bright future for its students and this can be seen with the excellent academic records and the achievements of the students in the previous years. Other than co-Curricular activities ,Workships, and programmes as yoga ,First aid ,Inter and intra college debate, Quizes ,Cultural activities, Aids awareness programmes , Womens?s day programmes etc. that helps the students to develop a healthy attitude towards the different aspects of the teacher?s life and encourages the active participation in social life. Under the administration of the Principal and the expert guidance of teaching staff the college is looking forward to provide a bright future to its students and as a whole flourish to achieve greater success in the future.
