Haribhai V. Desai College of Commerce was established in 1984. The single faculty college began to grow with maximum academic excellence in the central part of Pune city. The college attempted to commence, Science and Arts faculties. It was the full fledged unit of senior wing. All the undergraduate departments performed to their best with the full assistance of qualified teaching staff. In the shortest period, the college becomes an academic center attracting different students from the city of Pune and the neighboring suburbs and villages. Each faculty has the credit of producing 20-25 batches of Graduates, among whom many have been placed at high positions in either Government or Private sectors. Today the college has highly qualified teaching and non-teaching staff. The teaching staff has always been engaged in academic and research activities. Many of them have been guiding to M. Phil and Ph. D. students. The college is always proud of the academic standards of every individual. The under graduate departments of Commerce, Arts and Science have been achieving the maximum possible excellence which helps the students in getting placed in renowned organizations. Around 3000 students are learning in this college at present. The infrastructure of the college, central and departmental libraries and Science, computer and language laboratories are very well equipped with all necessary advanced equipments. The departments of Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry and others are continuously striving hard for the all-round development of students. Apart from the curricular activities, the students are motivated to participate and organize co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The college has the post graduation courses such as M. Com. and M.Sc. (Computer Science) at present. An attempt has been made to commence M.Sc. (Physics), M. Sc. (Analytical chemistry), M.C.A (Science) and B.Sc. (Animation) this year. It is done in view of the larger and growing demand of the students for these courses and most justifiable academic environment of the college.
