Himachal Pradesh University Business School earlier Institute of Management Studies is the re-engineered version of 30 years old Management Studies Department (Established in 1971) of Himachal Pradesh University. Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Himachal Pradesh University have excelled in the business world as professional managers and entrepreneurs. In keeping with the global environment of business, we have re-engineered the management development process in the School. Large number of foreign students from South Asian, Middle East and African countries have been trained in the University Department. The School is trying to reach out to the over-seas students community, especially the wards of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).

Eligibility

Any first bachelor's degree of a university, established by law in India, at least with 50% marks(45% maks in the case of Scheduled Cast/ Scheduled Tribe candidate). The students who are appearing for their final bachelor degree examination in 2005 shall be allowed to appear in H.P. State Combined Management Aptitude Test (HP-CMAT).

Preparation for HP – CMAT is like preparation for any other MBA Entrance Examination. Some preparation tips are given below 
  1. The 1st tip for preparation of management entrance examination is collection of good study materials. The materials are available in the market. Books related to every concerned subject should be bought before starting for preparation. Students can take help from their teachers, seniors, internet regarding selection of books.
  2. The next important tip is making a proper time table. Aspirants should provide equal amount of time to all concerned subjects. The routine should depict the candidate’s daily routine and amount of time he is dedicating for his studies.
  3. Start with first chapter of every subject. Slowly and steadily try to cover up all the chapters of the concerned subjects. Question paper carries problems from almost every chapter. So students have to cover up all the chapters.
  4. Initially try to solve easy problems. Gradually increase the level of difficulty of sums. This process will cover all type of sums and will also build confidence among the students.
  5. Collect previous year’s question papers from internet / market. They are very helpful for the candidates. By solving last years’ paper students gets familiar with the examination pattern.
  6. Set time and try to finish off the sample papers within a time limit. This will teach time management to the students. The main entrance examination will have certain time limit and students have to complete their paper in that time period.
  7.  Give mock tests. Many coaching centers conducts mock test. Enroll to those coaching centers and give mock tests. The mock test will provide the evaluation score card to every student. This will showcase the students’ weak and strong areas.
  8. Work out on weak areas. Try to solve more problems of the weak areas.
  9. Practice, practice and practice is the only mantra for getting success in entrance examination.
  10. Revise previous year’s question papers thoroughly and keep faith in yourself and be confident enough to crack the examination. All the Best!!

HPUBS admits 120 students for MBA course and out of which 60 seats are under subsidized category and 60 seats are under non-subsidized category

Reservation of Seats

The MBA Program except for seats reserved for nonsubsidized candidates shall be subject to the following conditions:
a) 15% & 7½ % seats shall be reserved for SC/ST candidates; b) The remaining 77½ % seats shall be filled up as under:
i) 25% of the seats for admission shall be open for all the candidates; ii) 75% of the seats shall be filled out of the candidates, the HP University or HP Krishi Vishwavidayalaya Palampur; 5% of the seats shall be reserved for outstanding Sportsmen/Women
b) 5% of the seats shall be reserved for outstanding Cultural Activists
c) 3% of the seats shall be reserved for PwD
d) Provided that the minimum eligibility for admission to a course in case of SC/ST will be 5% lower than the eligibility conditions for other students.
