Admission to these courses will be strictly on the basis of rank/merit obtained in GMCH Combined Entrance Test (GCET-2017) to be conducted by Government Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh. 

Age: Minimum 17 years as on 31.12.2017. 

Exam Schema

Scheme of examination shall be as under:

i. The medium of GCET-2017 will be English only.

ii. Paper will consist of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

iii. Each question will carry 1 (one) mark (maximum marks 100)

iv. There will be no negative marking.

v. For all the courses, the duration of the entrance test will be of two hours.

vi. The minimum qualifying marks in GCET-2017 for inclusion in the list of successful candidates are as below:

  • General category: not less than 45%
  • SC category: not less than 40%  

vii. For 10+2 (Medical Group i.e. Physics, Chemistry & Biology) passed candidate for all courses

a) Syllabus will be of 10+2 standard equivalent to AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE.

 II. Essential qualification:

Candidates who possess one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission in B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology degree course:

a) A person who has passed 10+2 examination in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University.

b) A person who has passed 10+2 vocational course (Medical Laboratory Technology) in their respective elective subjects & English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University.

c) A person who has passed Part–I of B.Sc. medical with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates from any institution recognized by Panjab University.

d) A person holding qualification of 3 yrs. Diploma in MLT (equivalent to 10+2) & must have obtained aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates, from any recognized Board/Council/University, shall also be eligible. 

(B) B.Sc. MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY (X-RAY) COURSE (3 years Course)

a) A person who has passed 10+2 examination in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University.

b) A person who passed 10+2 vocational course (X-Ray Techniques) in all the vocational course subjects of Radiation Physics, Radiography-I General, Radiography-II Special, Biology & English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University.

c) A person who has passed Part –I of B.Sc Medical with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates from any institution recognized by Panjab University.

d) A person holding qualification of diploma in Radiography/X-ray Techniques must have obtained aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates from any recognized Board/Council/University shall also be eligible provided he/she joined diploma course after passing 10+2 examination with Science (physics, chemistry and biology) subjects.

(C) B.Sc. MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY (Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Techniques) COURSE (3 years Course)

II. Essential qualification:

Candidates who possess one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission in B.Sc. Medical Technology (Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre) degree course:

a) A person who has passed 10+2 examination in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University.

b) A person who has passed Part –I of B.Sc. medical with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates from any institution recognized by Panjab University.

c) A person holding qualification of diploma Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Techniques (2 or 3 years) must have obtained aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates from any recognized Board/Council/University shall also be eligible provided he/she joined diploma course after passing 10+2 exam with science (physics, chemistry & biology). 

(D) B.OPTOM. (4 years Course including 01 year internship)

II. Essential qualification:

Candidates who possess one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission in Bachelor of Clinical Optometry (B.Optom.) degree course:

a) A person who has passed 10+2 examination in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University.

b) A person who has passed 10+2 Vocational Course (Ophthalmic Technique) in their respective elective subjects and English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates conducted by recognized Board/Council / University.

c) A person who has passed Part –I of B.Sc medical with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates from any institution recognized by Panjab University.

d) A person holding qualification of diploma in Ophthalmic Techniques (2 or 3 years) must have obtained with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates from any recognized Board/Council/University shall also be eligible provided he/she joined diploma course after passing 10+2 exam with science (physics, chemistry & biology). 

(E) B.Sc. Nursing Degree Course (4 years)

II. Essential qualification:

Candidates who possess one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission in B.Sc. Nursing degree course:

a) A person who has passed 10+2 examination in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University.

b) Students appearing in 10+2 examination in Science conducted by National Institute of Open School will also be eligible provided they secure aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for SC candidates.

Application Process

i. Candidate has to fill online application form available at GMCH website:

 http://www.gmch.gov.in/ or http://www.gmch.gov.in/job_gmchbscnew.aspx

ii. Before applying, candidates are advised to go through the admission notice and the instructions carefully, published in the newspapers / prospectus and then fill in the online application form.

iii. Before applying for any course, the candidates should ensure that he/she fulfils all the eligibility norms. The candidate should have the requisite educational qualifications from recognized University/Institute. GMCH, Chandigarh can reject the applications of candidates at any stage of admission process in case the candidate is not fulfilling the requisite criteria.

iv. Candidate has to fill only one online application form. No additional form is to be filled after declaration of result.
