Upendra Pai Memorial College

U.P.M. College is an institution offering courses leading to the Degree of Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Business Management of Mangalore University. The College is sponsored by Dr. T.M.A. Pai Foundation, a Konkani Linguistic Minority Trust which was established in 1981 to perpetuate the memory of Dr. T. M. A. Pai, the founder of the internationally famous Educational Complex at Manipal. The College which was established in July 1991 with the name 'College of Commerce and Business Management' has been renamed as Upendra Pai Memorial College from the academic year 1997-98, to commemorate the birth centinary of late Upendra Pai, the elder brother of late Dr. T.M.A. Pai who was the backbone of all activities of Dr. T.M.A. Pai in the field of Banking and Education. The college is situated in a quiet campus at Kunjibettu, about 2 kilometres from Udupi on the Udupi Manipal Road near the Vaikunta Baliga College of Law and Dr. T.M.A. Pai College of Education. Objective : The college is founded with the aim of providing facilities for undergraduate education in Commerce and Business Management leading to B.Com. and B.B.M. degrees of Mangalore University in view of the growing demand for these courses. Excellence in Management Education is our main objective. In addition to the curricular programmes prescribed by the syllabus we offer additional off- hour courses in computer application to equip the students with better skills. We conduct courses on Entrepreneurship Development and Individual Development for the final year degree students in order to make them better equipped to face the problem of life. These courses are conducted after class hours on Saturday afternoons and Sundays. The College also conduct coaching classes for CAT & MAT for the MBA aspirants. The founders of the institution believe that no education would be worth the name if the instructions in various discipline are not accompanied by proper shaping of character. A sense of disciplined purpose, cultivation of proper attitudes, awareness of various responsibilities, which the young would be called upon to shoulder when they step into life on their own, stress on civic virtue and sense of values are among the things sought to be impressed upon who seek admissions in this institution.
