The college was first affiliated to North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) for Pre-University (Arts) on 9th March 1992, and Degree (Arts) on 9th June 1994. When a separate Mizoram University (Central) was established on 2nd July 2001, the affiliation was transferred to this University. The permission to open the college was granted by the Govt. of Mizoram on 14th October 1990, and then upgrated into deficit grant-in-aid status with effect from 1st October 1995. Finally, the college has become a Govt. College with effect from 11.10.2007.
