Loyola College of Education

Loyola College of Education is a B. Ed College run by the Society of Jesus for the future teachers of Jharkhand. It was established by the Jesuits in July, 1976 under the able leadership of the founding Principal Rev Fr K. M. Judge. Since then, the college has left no stone unturned to produce efficient teachers, who are now shaping the future of India. With a view to transform the educational scenario in Jharkhand where there was an acute shortage of trained and well qualified teachers, Fr. Kenneth Judge, S.J. an American Jesuit missionary started Loyola College of Education in the year 1976 at XLRI campus, in Jamshedpur. The college was shifted to its present campus at Telco, Jamshedpur with 15 acres of land in 1992 and is about 6km away from Tatanagar railway station. The college is a self financed co-educational Christian Minority Educational institution. It was first affiliated to Ranchi University in 1977 and is now affiliated to newly formed Kolhan University. The college is recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education, New Delhi since 11th February, 1997. NCTE granted recognition to the college with a total intake of 100 students in 2004 ? Ref. Order No. ERC/7-44(ER-44.5.3)/2004/1553(1). It is accredited by NAAC with B+ in 2005. Minority Status is accorded to this institution by the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions in 2007 (F.No. 1045 of 2006).
