Pt Chiranji Lal Sharma, Govt PG College

The college was established in 1976 in the old building at Railway Road Karnal and later shifted to its present site of 20 acres in 1991. Whereas the strength of students in the old building was 1411, at present it has risen to about 4370. The college has all the three faculties, viz. Arts, Commerce and Science besides the Job Oriented courses like BMCJ, BTM, BCA, Biotechnology, BSc. (IT) and Master Degree Programme in Commerce, English. Economics, Psychology, History & PGDJMC. Army and Air wing of National Cadets Corps are working smoothly in the college. The counselling and guidance cell is proving a boon for the learners in this age of diversification and innumerable opportunities for jobs. The members of the committee act in collaboration with the members of personality development cell so that the students can be groomed to face various competitions and interviews. This is a matter of great pride for us that during the last three years a total of 139 students of our college have got job offers by such widely acclaimed multinational companies as WIPRO, IBM, INFOSIS, TCS, TATA, and SATYAM, KEYNO BPO, etc. During the last three sessions our students were placed in the Merit List 2008-2009 (19), 2009-2010 (24), 2010-2011 (26). It will be worth while to mention here that Govt.P.G. College, Karnal, was declared the best college of the state by the Dept. of Education and Kurukshetra University
