Ignorance of Law is no Excuse?, is an universally accepted legal dictum, which throws light on the importance of legal education as a medium of spreading legal literacy among the citizens so as to make them conscious about their responsibilities, rights and remedies and to uphold peace, order, prosperity and rule of law in the society. Realizing the importance of legal education for the advancement of the civilized society, the institution has been established with a progressive vision of promoting access of comprehensive and value oriented legal education to the students and of grooming them as conscientious, competent and public spirited legal professionals suitable and responsive to the contemporary challenges and the requirements of the society. The journey of the college started way back in 1974 as a faculty of Sardar Patel Mahavidyalaya. Later it became an independent College of Law in 1998 and its foundation stone was laid at the honorable hands of His Excellency Dr. P. C. Shantaramji Potdukhe, former Union Minister of State for Finance, distinguished members of Sarvodya Shikshan Mandal, Principal and Faculty Members, the college grew from success to success and acquired the status of leading centre of legal education and research in Central India. The College has been recognised by Bar Council of India, affiliated permanently to Gondwana University, Gadchiroli and had the distinction of a recognised institution under Section 2 (f) and 12 (B) of the UGC Act.
