The Faculty of Education was established in 2003 as the department in TMIMT. It provides singular service to the cause of education and contributes to nation building through teacher training programs. Teacher preparation programs, leading to the B.Ed. & M.Ed Degrees, are learner centric, where students discuss ideas and concepts for education, and apply these abstract ideas in practice for better understanding. The Masters Degree program, running since 2006, provides a rigorous exposure to students, to understand education as a discipline, and prepare students for educational research. Students learn through group discussions, seminars, dissertation and library work. There is no substitute for live classroom interaction for these young teachers. M.Ed. students are associated with experienced teachers to provide guidance to B.Ed. students during practice of teaching as well as classroom lectures. A program to improve English communication is an essential part of the curriculum to enhance the teaching efficiency of the students. An interdisciplinary approach, participation in curricular and co-curricular activities, professionally designed value added courses help young students & teachers to develop critical problem solving abilities and a scientific attitude. Qualified, competent and experienced faculty members, who excel as academic advisers, facilitators and mentors, support the institute. The teaching staff is encouraged to present research papers on education and social issues in reputed journals and participate in seminars and conferences. Lectures on ethics, personality development and moral code by eminent educationists are organized throughout the year. The Faculty of Education has an enviable eighty percent record of placement of young teachers trained at the University and others pursue higher education in the subject of their interest.
