MBBS Exam Pattern

  • Mode of Exam: The AIIMS exam will be held through online mode (computer based test).
  • Duration: The exam duration will be 3 hours + 30 minutes.
  • No. of Questions: The question paper will be composed of 200 Multiple Choice and Reason-Assertion type questions.
  • Marking Scheme: For each correct response 1 mark will be given and for each incorrect response 1/3 marks will be deducted.

  • Age Limit: Candidates must be completed the age of 17 years on 31st December of the year of admission (2017).
  • Qualification: Candidates must be cleared 12th or equivalent exam from any recognized board with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects with securing minimum 60% marks for General & OBC candidates and 50% marks for SC/ST/OPH Candidates.
  • Appearing Students: Candidates appearing in 12th or equivalent exam are also eligible to apply.

B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic)

  • To train nurses to provide comprehensive nursing care to patients/clients that contribute to health of individuals, families and communities in preventive, promotive, curative and restorative health care delivery system.
  • To develop skills in nursing management and teaching at basic level.
  • To produce nurses who can demonstrate communication skills, leadership qualities and decision making abilities in various situations.

Eligibility for B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic)

The candidate must have :

  • Passed 12th class under 10+2 system of education or an equivalent examination from a recognised Board/University. (Those who have passed 10+1 on or before 1986 are also eligible.)
  • Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery from any institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
  • Registration as nurse, RN, RM (registered nurse, registered midwife) with any State Nursing Council.
  • In case of male nurses, (if passed before implementation of new integrated course in 2003), beside being registered as a nurse with the State Nursing Council, should have obtained a certificate in General Nursing and instead of Training in Midwifery, training in any subject out of following, for a period of six months:
    • O.T. Techniques
    • Ophthalmic Nursing
    • Leprosy Nursing
    • TB Nursing
    • Psychiatric Nursing 
    • Neurological and Neuro Surgical Nursing
    • Community Health Nursing
    • Cancer Nursing
    • Orthopaedic Nursing.

Exam Pattern :

  • The examination will be held in Delhi, and in English language only.
  • The selection of candidates will be made on a 2-stage performance evaluation as under :
    • Written Test:
      • Candidate will appear for an entrance examination (Written Test) of 90 minutes duration consisting of one paper containing 70 objective type (Multiple Choice) questions in the subjects of fundamentals of Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing including Anatomy, Physiology & Pharmacology,Obstetrics Nursing and Midwifery, Paediatric Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing and Professional Trends in Nursing.

For B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing

  • To develop in a student the qualities of a nurse who can provide comprehensive nursing care to the sick admitted to the hospital with varied medical and surgical conditions.
  • To train a student as midwife, able to give necessary supervisory care and services to women during pregnancy, labour and postpartum period, to conduct deliveries on her own responsibility and to take care of the newborn and the infant.
  • To impart training to the student so as to enable her to teach and supervise appropriate nursing and health care to patients, families, the general public and other co-operating personnel in the health care delivery system, thus taking part in the promotion of health, prevention of disease and in rehabilitation.


  • has a minimum aggregate marks required in qualifying examination i.e. 10+2 or equivalent:
  • For B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing: 55% for Gen/OBC (50% in case of SCs/STs categories) in aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

B.Sc.(Hons.) Para-Medical Courses

  • To provide basic knowledge of human anatomy and physiology for understanding human biology.
  • To provide basic understanding of the beneficial and harmful effect of X-ray radiation and protective measures while working with it and physical principles of other imaging modalities like Ultrasound and MRI.
  • To train the student to operate X-ray and other imaging equipments, perform all routine radiographic techniques and produce images of good diagnostic quality with minimum radiation dose.
  • To train a student to work independently as a competent imaging technologist and produce teachers for the future.

Exam Pattern :

  • One paper of 1½ hours duration and consisting of objective type (Multiple Choice) questions in four parts of 30 questions each in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. The candidate may either attempt biology part or Mathematics part



Open Round of Counseling Date: 26.09.2017 Venue: J.L. Auditorium, AIIMS, New Delhi 

Reporting Date and Time:

All Eligible candidates for UR, OBC & SC /ST Counseling : 26.09.2017 at 8.30 AM

For open selection for filling up the post of B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing course which have fallen vacant after 2rd round of counseling is to be held on 26th September, 2017 at 8.30 AM.

Process of Counseling :

Process of counseling will be exactly the same as done in 1st and 2nd round of counseling. On 26th September, 2017 during open of counseling for B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing course for 7 AIIMS, first UR counseling will done and after UR counseling is over, OBC counseling will be done followed by SC/ST counseling.

If any OBC seat remain vacant after counseling for OBC seat, all vacant seats will be transferred to UR category and will be offered to UR candidates on merit. 

In case of SC/ST counseling, if any SC seat(s) remain vacant, these will be transferred to ST seat and vise versa. All SC/ST seats which vacant after such transfers will also be transferred to UR category and will be offered to UR candidates strictly on merit.

Thus, UR candidates will be called again in case any OBC, SC and ST seats remain vacant after counseling for these category is over in this round and all UR candidates should, therefore stay, back till it is announced that counseling is finally over.
