"JNV, Rekong Peo is located in the salubrious and pristine environment of the Kinner ranges and is situated in the most picturesque scenery and pollution-free atmosphere of the Kalpa Hills in district Kinnaur, of the State of Himachal Pradesh, in northern India. The 15 Bigha & 10 Biswas of Vidyalaya Estate is surrounded by the grove of Chilgoza trees on the main Shimla-Narkanda-Rampur-Reckong Peo-Kalpa road at Reckong Peo. Vidyalaya opened in 1987-88, here at Kinnaur, which is one of the extreme winter area of the country. The weather is relatively cool all through the year. The temperatures varying from 0 –20 degrees Centigrade in winter and 10-30 degrees Centigrade in summer. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Kinnaur is fully residential, co-educational school affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Presently we are in temporary primises and the construction of Permanent Buildings of vidyalaya is in progress."
