The college emerged on the 5th June 1968 in the heart of the chickballapur town with the support of local municipal council. The college was then renamed as Govt. First Grade College after the government took over in 1986. The college which has completed 4 decades has enabled thousands of rural students to complete their graduation course, ever since Kolar-Chickballapur were undivided districts. It is commendable that the senior students of this college have been successful in powering prestigious posts in several Govt. department especially as I.A.S. , K.A.S. officers. They are also praise worthy for the service rendered by them in private sector for the achievement as entrepreneurs and industrialists. A few are also recognized in the main stream of the society as legislators. At present there are 54 full time lectures in the college adequate enough to teach in all the faculties. Five among them hold PhD Degree, 10 have submitted their thesis and 17 have M.Phil Degree. Many have published papers and books of international standards and repute. They have oriented a good number of people participating as resource persons at the state and national level seminars at universities and have also won state level awards. It is needless to say the faculty is an intellectual asset of Chickballapur. Excelling in various fields such as Arts, Sports, Literature, Music, Research and so on. The college located in the prime location of chickballapur district importing the best education at a mediocre. Cost is a ray of hope for the poor and bourgeois students of the surrounding area. With the introduction of new courses, the strength of students has increased to 1824 during 2009-2010. in addition to the conventional courses, the introduction of new courses like B.C.A., B.B.M., B.sc (cs, electronics, biotech) B.A.(optional kannada and english) which are in great demand but were previously limited to Bengaluru city has increased the demand for admissions to the college.
