Laxminarayan Mahavidyalaya was dream child of a group of dedicated persons who desires to provide a scope of higher education to aspiring youth of the locality, which is situated at a distance of about 40 Kms from district headquarters of the M.D.R. from Basta to Baliapal just in the middle. Originally named as Panchayat Samiti College in 1976, later renamed as Akshay Narayan Praharaj Smruti Mahavidyalaya, has assumed the present name because it was rescued from fiscal breakdown by a generous contribution of Rs. 50,000/- from Mr. Narayan Jena of Nepura, Ex-Reader in Oriya, Fakir Mohan College, Balasore.
